Youth Empowerment and Inclusion in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals


You may have heard about Sustainable Development Goals but perhaps you are still wondering about what these goals are. Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations in 2015 to fulfill the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Among the goals include good health and well-being, quality education, and disposable consumption and production. So, have you have ever wondered: 

  1. How you can relate SDG to add value to your lives 
  2. How youths can contribute to the aspiration of building a better world with any of the goals
  3. How we can achieve the goals 
  4. Why these goals are important to mankind

The conference aims to inspire and empower young leaders in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by bringing multi-stakeholders to a greater platform for sharing and exchanging ideas while moving forward to a more inclusive and sustainable development within communities.

Thus, if SDG is relatively new to you and you would like to enhance your knowledge on SDG as well as to understand how you may contribute to achieving the goals, then this is the conference for you. Please make use of this wonderful opportunity to meet both young and seasoned professionals in person, listen to their stories, ask questions and learn an idea or two as you prepare to embark on the world-saving mission.

SDGs COMPETITION


Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Competition 2019:
Stand Up for the Change

The Sustainable Development Club of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is organising an SDGs Competition aimed to create awareness towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among tertiary students within Malaysia and to be a platform to honour SDGs project initiated and implemented by the students which also benefits the targeted community. 

Participants are required to submit the project overview according to the entry criteria in the preliminary round. Top five groups shortlisted by the panel of judges will be invited for the pitching session during International Young Leaders Conference 2019 on 25 and 26 October 2019, at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Sungai Long Campus.

A total cash prize of RM 1100 to be won!



Project Criteria

  1. Theme: Stand Up for the Change Project content could be anything which has brought positive impact and is sustainable to the targeted community. Each submission could have your own project title. 
  2. The project must fulfill at least two Sustainable Development Goals, with Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals as compulsory SDG. 
  3. On-going or completed projects within year 2016-2019 are qualified to participate for this competition.

  1. RM30.00 per registration (individual or up to maximum of 5 in a group) 
  2. Bank in to UNIVERSITI TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN, Public Bank Berhad (Account number: 3118325015). 
  3. All fees paid are not refundable.

  1. Fill in application form.
  2. Complete project’s overview according to template. 
  3. Payment for registration.
